We provide personalized pre-operative instructions tailored to your specific procedure and medical needs. During your consultation, Dr. Nguyen will review your complete medication list and provide detailed guidance. Here are general guidelines to help you prepare:
• Fast completely (no eating, drinking, or smoking) for 8 hours before your surgery check-in time
• Discontinue over-the-counter blood thinners (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Aleve) for 7 days before surgery (Low-dose 81mg Aspirin is permitted if prescribed by your physician)
• Stop prescription blood thinners (Xarelto, Plavix, Coumadin) 5 full days before your procedure unless your prescribing physician advises otherwise
• Tylenol is safe to use during this period for pain management
• Continue all non-blood thinning medications as usual
• Arrange for a responsible adult to check you out of the facility and drive you home after your procedure
